DMS is now working as a Global Digital Agency, We have been working in this capacity for a while, but are making it ‘official’! To date, in the last 4 years, Tina has personally worked with clients in the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Cyprus, Poland and Germany. It’s wonderful how the small the world has become!

Putting your business out there is a big step. But putting your business OUT there, on a global scale is something that needs a multi-angled attack!

1.  Decide on Global Success

Goals are funny things. They become easier the moment you decide to make them goals! Now, the bigger the goal, the stronger your resolve needs to be,

If you can think it, you can do it.

No one said having big goals was going to be easy, and getting your business in front of a global audience is a pretty big goal.

Decide that your business is going to be global. Know that you will do everything that you need to so it can happen. Decide that you are going to overcome and embrace all of the challenges along the way.

2.  Plan for Global Success

Without a plan, who knows where you will get to. Wherever you end up, chances are you spent a lot of money and time to get there. So make sure that you plan to get to achieve Global Success.

Understand the unique challenges that getting your business in front of a global audience are likely to present. Identify your current resources and what you may need to achieve this new goal. Map out a business plan for your global business and have a good idea where you are headed.

Obviously, you need to have an international audience and global customers. Does your local approach to business and your customers work abroad? Will your product be accepted by an overseas audience? Can you sustain your local business while exploring all of these issues to implement a plan to expand?

Identify all of the risks and plan for how you will mitigate for them or overcome any issues.

Plan in your head. Write down your plan. Then you need to, re-evaluate it, and plan again.

3.  Make It Happen

Rome wasn’t built in a day. If this is your first venture overseas, it’s likely that you will need to approach it as a long game rather than an overnight success. Have resources that will be able to go the distance. Resources that are flexible with your planning so that your approach can be adjusted and amended. This could be over time, as you progress or as situations change.

4. Make is Easy

Make is super easy for people overseas to connect with you. Ensure you have facetime, skype, zoom, whatsapp and all of those instant message, video messaging tools so you can connect with your clients easily. Have a username that’s easy to find and professional in some capacity (nothing offensive please!) and have links to these methods on your website, social media, email signatures etc.

5. Let people know

There is no point doing all the work quietly! Let people know. Run some ads, write some content, share the crap out of it all and make some BIG noise in the right places. Facebook Groups are a great place to do some online networking with potential clients overseas, so join a couple that fit in with your ideal client/business model.

It may seem an obvious consideration, but be sure that your business is ripe for international expansion. Is it a good fit for what you planned. It may be a great way to diversify, to leverage international markets and to spread your businesses risk over local and lands afar.
