Never Stop Learning
It’s 9 pm on a Friday night, and I’m writing a blog post. What on earth is wrong with me? I’m pretty sure it’s nothing to do with the one glass of wine I’ve consumed. So I can only put this behaviour down to being 100% committed to my business! That and I’m taking action following a day of learning…
Today I attended the first of a three-day seminar being held by my wonderful business coach, Sharon Jurd. The event was buzzing with business owners and professionals who want to make a difference in their lives and business, and already, after one day, I walked out of there pumped and ready to take action!
Last year, Sharon put on the same event, with different speakers and topics. I attended that event in March 2014 and can honestly say my life changed after. Part of that was as a result of taking Sharon on as a business coach, and part of it was what I took away from that weekend. I implemented this information into my business.
Never Stop Learning in Business
It doesn’t matter how many seminars you attend or courses you sign up for, if you do not take action, then you may as well not go. At least this was what we were told today, and it’s true!!
The statement makes me think about the countless seminars I’ve attended, workshops I’ve sat through, online courses I’ve signed up to (yes, I know, I know I’m a course junkie – shuuuushhh!!!). I guess the difference with me and some others is, I have actually implemented these learning’s. I can’t actually recall anything I have attended or invested in (time and money-wise), that I did not walk away with something.
That’s the thing here. We can do course after course and listen to webinar after webinar, but if you’re not taking action, then you’re not moving forward. Even if you take action and it doesn’t work, you are making some kind of progress.
Never Stop Learning in Life
I remember a few years ago being pregnant with twins and going away to the Sunshine Coast with my husband and 2 year old daughter as a final holiday before the mayhem began (which it did, and continues to…). Hubby and I watched a video/webinar about making money through property options and being a property broker. The following month I spent time buying newspapers, contacting sellers, finding investors and bringing it all together. I kid you not, I thought I had bloody made it! I was speaking to these millionaire property moguls in Sydney and had them interested in land I had to sell…. Anyway to cut a long story short, that property venture didn’t work out exactly as planned! However, I learned a lot and at least I tried something new!
A more successful story would be when I paid money to join a Social Media Training Group run by a leading Social Media Trainer in the USA. The learning’s I took from there in combination with what I already knew about marketing. It gave me the confidence to launch my Social Media Workshops and Training programs. I’m still a member of this group and it’s one of the most valuable tools I have in my business.
