How do you write copy that converts to customers?

It’s no use writing compelling copy that sounds amazing and tells a wonderful story if you require that copy to turn enquiries/leads into sales.  In order to convert copy to customers and sales, you should focus on the way you are conveying your message.

Top Ten Exhibit Design

Whether it’s marketing collateral, a sales letter or website copy, below are some of some of my basic tips that may help.

Writing Copy

  1. Punchy headline to grab your audience’s attention.
  2. Use easy to understand language and grammar so people don’t have to think too hard about the message you’re trying to convey.
  3. Try and avoid using very long sentences and long paragraphs.
  4. When communicating an important message be brief, to the point and avoid waffle.
  5. Avoid the use of jargon or terms that are industry related and that many customers won’t understand.
  6. Use bullet points and sub headings to break up the page.
  7. Understand your target market and speak to them in a way they understand and appreciate.
  8. If it’s marketing, sales or website it needs to be benefit driven.
  9. Call to action at the end so they know what to do and how.
  10. SPELL CHECK!  Please always spell check.

The most important thing is to allow you and your company’s personality to shine through and have fun with it if you can!
