Back in early 2014, my Copywriter Brisbane and I wrote an article on Top 10 Tips for Copy Writing – you can read the original post here.

Copy Writing for Marketing

As with the majority of areas in Marketing, particularly online, the rules change often. I wanted to update the details of the article to make it relevant to 2016.

Since 2010, Puzzle Media has written Website and Marketing Content for over 150 clients. Our copywriter team has worked with clients close to us on the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and further afield across Australia, UK, USA, New Zealand and even Canada! Each time we undertake a project, the objectives change, so we write Website Copy and Content to suit the clients goals.

With more and more Content marketing being shared online, the importance of standing out has never been such a high priority as it is now. The trend we are finding is that clients want a personal spin on the website content. They don’t want the stuffiness that comes from ‘traditional business’ and wants to hear the personality behind a brand.Subscribe to hear the latest in Social Media and Marketing today!

Here are the latest Copy Writing Tips

This will help your Marketing and Website Content stand out:

  1. First Impressions Count – Website Copy can often be the first impression someone has on you and your company. Be very clear on the message you wish to portray and ensure this is delivered in website content.
  2. Heart – Talk to the heart. You may be writing for a large corporate organisation or a blog post for your online business – either way, understanding the target market is imperative. Find out who the audience are, what they want and how they enjoy being communicated with.
  3. Pictures – Images talk to some more than others. In order to appeal to people’s senses, we need to engage the visual along with the kinesthetic. Images can trigger feelings, so use appropriate images alongside your website content.
  4. Break-it-down – No I’m not talking about MC Hammer breaking it down, but more break down your content. Bullet points, short paragraphs and bold text is easier on the eye and you’re likely to capture website visitors for longer.
  5. Keywords – Are you using keywords? If you’re writing for SEO, then you’ll need a list of keywords to help you with your organic rankings. For those writing for the pure joy of it. I salute you. As you were.
  6. Proof and Edit – Please proofread. There is nothing worse than writing a brilliant piece of material that has a heap of spelling mistakes. Take a look and another look and a third look. Then give it to someone else (who usually will spot an error in the first paragraph – god bless the readers who proof).
