Business owners, this cannot wait another day.
We’re seeing a disturbing rise in hacked Facebook and Instagram accounts, especially business profiles. If you’re using social media for your business (and most of us are), it’s crucial to secure your accounts immediately before you lose access, data, or incur fraudulent ad spend.
Take Action NOW: Security Steps to Take to Protect Your Facebook Business Account
1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
This is your first line of defence. Do this to ALL email accounts linked to your social media.
2. Change Your Passwords Today
Create strong, unique passwords for Facebook, Instagram, and every associated email account. Set a quarterly reminder. Hackers exploit old passwords. Use a password manager if needed.
3. Check Who Has Access to Your Account
Review users on your Facebook Page, Business Manager, and Meta Business Suite. Remove anyone who should not have access. Many breaches happen through forgotten team member accounts.
4. Never Click on Links in Emails from Facebook
Scammers sometimes send fake spam messages to your business inbox on Facebook and Instagram as well as via email with alert notices that tell you that you’ve breached guidelines and your account/page etc, will be suspended.
We have some additional information on this here in our blog. Please remember to log in directly to Business Manager or Facebook. If it’s real, notifications will appear there.
Taking these simple steps will help you protect your social media assets for your business while also saving time, stress, and money.
