3 Ways You To Use Instagram Stories To Promote Your Business

Instagram Stories have launched! If you’ve been off Social Media for more than 24 hours, then you would have missed Instagrams fancy schmancy new feature – Insta Stories. That’s why today I’m going to talk about ways to use Instagram Stories To Promote Business.

What’s all the fuss about?

Well. Do you use SnapChat? If you’re anything like me, you downloaded it and then thought, I seriously don’t have enough time for ANOTHER SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNEL!

Guess What? You can now use Insta Stories in a similar way (although it doesn’t do that cute dog/bunny face thingy with the long tongue – yet).

The idea is that you upload an image or a video, add a caption and then put out in Instagram world. It stays on there for around 24 hours and then disappears. That is unless you want to save it and keep it as an Instagram post.

Here are my top 3 ways to use Instagram Stories To Promote Your Business:

1. ENGAGE

Ask questions, give people value, make them laugh, make them cry (but not too much yeah?). This feature allows you to really connect with your audience and understand who is engaging with you. Best feature ever (next to ‘Who has viewed your LinkedIn profile) is that you can see who has watched your ‘story’.

Once you assess who is stalking following you, then you can reach out, give more value and build engagement. As we all know (if you read any of my stuff like this) in order for people to buy from you, they need to get to know you first.

2. VULNERABILITY

Yes the V word. No not that one, the other one.

People love vulnerable. They connect with it; they want it, and they see it in themselves, and it makes them like you. Truly.

When I say ‘like you’, I’m talking from a business perspective. They connect with you. Therefore they connect with your brand. Easy peasy. Lemon squeezy.

Show the weaker moments, and don’t be afraid. We all know life isn’t always perfect flat lays, beautifully presented food and giggling children. Sometimes it’s a chocolate bar at the servo, dressed in PJ’s while the kids are crying in the back of the car. See. Vulnerability aka truth, works doesn’t it!

3. PROMOTE

“Say whaaat? Promote my business on Instagram” (I hear you all shout). Yes how’s that for strategy!

Now I am in no way suggesting that your first post is a ‘Sales’ video, but once you engage people and they begin connecting and responding, do not be afraid to share what you do. It’s ok to ‘sell yourself’ (shock horror I hear you all gasp).

You may be promoting an event, a service or a product. Using the video feature in combination with the images allows people to get a deeper understanding of who you are, what you do, why you do it and the type of results they can expect.

So many options for you all. Let me know how you go with it and if you’ve already found another way to use it, then let me know and please make sure you tag me in your insta stories when you’re posting @puzzlemedia
