Ever since I began my business in Australia, I wondered whether I actually needed a Business Coach

I was only making around $50k a year in my Australian based business, and having a coach felt like a very extravagant move, back then. I thought that it was larger companies that relied on Business Coaches

Boy was I wrong!

Back in 2014 I took a leap of faith and invested in an amazing Business Coach in Australia. My Business Coach taught me so much about business, mindset and areas I couldn’t even fathom that it was well worth the investment. Within 10 months of working with her, I had doubled my income and within 18 months, it had tripled. Not to mention I was now working with clients across Australia and Internationally.

My coach insisted it was me doing the work, not her. However, it was her guidance that supported me through. I just wish I had found her sooner! Since then, I have continued to grow my business, build passive income products, speak at international events, run workshops, work with awesome clients and most importantly, learned how to manage my time.

I would have really appreciated some guidance when I was looking to hire someone, so I’ve put together a little list to help make it easier for you.

5 things To Look For When Hiring a Business Coach Australia

1. Experience
Has this person done what you are seeking to do? Achieved the goals you have set for yourself? Tackled similar problems with more success? I’m a big believer that theory is great, but practice makes perfect. Ideally, you would be working with a Business Coach that has walked the walk.
2. Gut Instinct
What does your gut instinct tell you? Is it a good feeling? Is it excitement with a little anticipation? Is it fear? Is it a straight NO?! Listen to what your body is telling you and try not to get caught up in emotion.

I nearly signed up for a $10k package with one lady, because they caught me on a bad day (bad for me, would have been awesome for them if I had said yes!!). Thankfully I took a week to consider and research, and at that stage, I knew it wasn’t a right fit. You need to listen for warning signs, and if there are signs, then do some research on that person.

3. Accountability
When I was looking for a coach, accountability was a big one for me. I needed someone to kick my butt. Not someone to tell me I’m great. Personally, I work better that way.

Having someone hold you accountable for your goals and what you ‘say’ you’ll do, is a real eye opener. When you don’t reach your goals, you’re letting down two people instead of one. Again not everyone aligns with this method of working, however I’m simply sharing what worked for me.

4. Connections
To be honest, this wasn’t something I was necessarily looking for in a coach. However my Business Coach happened to be well connected, which was a bonus.

If you’re able to gain access to contacts within your Business Coach’s network, then that will provide instant opportunities for you and your business.

5. Affordability
I wasn’t sure about adding this one, but I appreciate that for some of you, costs are an issue. I ended up dipping into my savings to pay for my coach for the first three months, however as I shared, I was also able to double my business within ten months, so it was well worth it. Have a think about how serious you are about your business and how much you can invest in growth and personal development.

In summary, a Business Coach can become an amazing friend and contact, particularly when you find the right one. If you would like to learn more about my coaching packages and book in for a FREE discovery session please click here for more!
